Through servicing the Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Relief Industry, Chef Minute Meals has worked round the clock to develop a few key programs to provide stress relief to the preparing agencies. Many issues the agencies face are funding, storage, and ease of distribution.

In order to provide relief to storage and funding CMM developed an Inventory Management Program (IMP) also referred to as Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) for relief in the stock piling and/or ‘just in time’ process, but also provides relief through payment plans as well.

In order to accommodate the ease of distribution CMM developed a Customizable Meal Kits program in order to allow the combining of products into one package providing a half day, full day, or three day meal kit, and/or whatever your agency requires.

Many agencies run into the issue of expiring meals prior to use, due to this CMM developed an Expiring Inventory Donation Program, whereas CMM offers a per unit credit on expiring inventory coming soon to expiration within 60 days. This per unit is applied to the replenishment order of Chef 5 Minute Meals. The expiring product does not have to be Chef 5 Minute Meals manufactured, simply an industry competitive product.

Chef 5 Minute Meals Self-Heating Meals Are Available Through Federal Grant Programs

State and local agencies are utilizing Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP) funds to purchase Chef 5 Minute Meals and/or Religious Meals Self-Heating Meals. The HSGP mandates that States spend at least 25% of these funds for “…law enforcement terrorism prevention-oriented planning, organization, training, exercise, and equipment activities, including those activities which support the development and operation offusion centers.” Under that requirement, Agencies and First Responders are using Chef 5 Minute Meals and/or Religious Meals as part of their training exercises, and for stocking EOCs and Fusion Centers. As part of the State Homeland Security Program (SHSP) grant, Emergency Management Performance Grants (EMPG) Program, and the Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI) grant, Chef 5 Minute Meals and/or Religious Meals are classified as “Critical Emergency Supplies (shelf-stable food products),” and are also covered under, “Allowable Exercise Related Costs.”

Emergency Food

Chef 5 Minute Meals has established a reputation as a reliable source for both pre and post-disaster emergency food, both self-heating and no heating required custom food kits.

CMM maintains an inventory of over 500,000 self-heating meals during steady state operations (non-emergency) and components to build another 500,000. We have the capability of producing 30,000 meals per day using single or extended one shift scheduling. In extreme situations we can produce significantly more running two shifts and assuming availability of all required production components .

Obviously, having agencies and organizations maintain an inventory to meet first phase demand is preferred and less costly versus emergency production right after a natural or man-made disaster has occurred. We encourage the keeping on an initial inventory for meeting first phase critical needs when power is scarce and many roads impassible.
